Documentaries and Interviews
(Last updated Fall 2006)
Collected here are a few audio and video files mostly relating to my work.
Interviewed BBC World Service, Discovery, 15 minutes, 23 June 1987, Advances in Artificial Intelligence Research, Audio (mp3) 15mins, 15.9MB <Evolutionary Computing>
Interviewed BBC Radio Wales, Good Evening Wales, 2 May 1997: Kasparov versus Deep Blue. Audio (mp3) 3mins, 4.3MB <DeepBlue>
The following interviews were conducted by my friend Jill Bird (see http://jillartbird.com/ )as part of her UWIC Arts Project. I have edited my own versions. Note that the files are quite large and designed to stream at 340Kb/s so will require a Broadband connection. Even so there may be a perceptible pause at the start whilst the initial data is being buffered.
Life at the Research Farm (I): Climate Change (A preprint of the resulting paper will be put up soon.) Video (wmv) 17mins. 42.4 MB. <Climate Change>
Life at the Research Farm (II): Eye of the Storm. Interviewed Jill Bird, 13 August 2006. Video (wmv) 15mins, 38.5 MB <Eye of the Storm>. Jill happened to be at the Research Farm with her cameras at a time when the Guardian Article on Internet Banking was published (see <here> , <here>, <here> and <here>) - so we shot this informal interview. There are a few minor inaccuracies due to the stress of the moment: viz. [1] It was actually Stuart Goring who originally spotted the problem and drew it to Joe Rabaiotti's attention; and [2] The Guardian did not actually sign off on our original CA but rather gave us written assurances in the form of a letter. [3] Apparently ITV did use the interview they shot that day. Oh, and by the way, the Welsh word for homesickness, mentioned in the interview, is 'hiraeth' which roughly translates as 'longing'.
