My Reflective writing of CMT-119

ZiJie Zhang Monday,October 15

Computational Thinking is the first course I've taken for my autumn semester across weeks 1 to 4,. It comprises various elements such as decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, algorithm design, and problem-solving. These components collectively facilitate logical and efficient problem-solving processes. This way of thinking has helped me to successfully understand how to see and solve problems from a computer's point of view.

This course also includes the introduction to HTML and CSS, the lecturer showed how to write a website and implemented elements in it,then changed its layout and style.Another important part of this course should be the basic concepts of programming, such as variables, statements, iteration. To be honest I have had study and use Java and Python before, but never use html and css to design, which make me have no thought in designing a page.In final my group work It's just a weird interface with gorgeous color blocks and gradient color animation stacked like a clock tower monster. After group work , I restudy by LC and use w3school and other teaching website to improve my design level. Apparently, my personal work looks much neater and more beautiful now! It gave me a sense of accomplishment and I could clearly see my progress

This is a completely different way of learning from what I have been doing before, and it will also have a profound impact on my future personal growth, life and learning. I'm currently studying CMT-313 Software Engineerning and CMT-120 Fundamentals of Programming, and CMT-119 Computational Thinking's content provided me with a solid foundation and a deep impact that allowed me to more quickly understand and complete the content of the courses that followed.

In short, it is a course in thinking like a computer scientist. People from all walks of life can benefit from Computational Thinking because of its rigorous logic and ability to break down problems(Wing, 2008). The existence of Computational Thinking has also allowed us to enter the field of computing gradually.
