Lost Visions

The Arts and Humanities Research Council have funded the "Lost Visions" project in which the lead academics are Profs. Julia Thomas and David Skilton from the School of English, Communication and Philosophy and Profs. Omer Rana and Prof. Paul Rosin from the School of Computer Science and Informatics. The goal of the project is to take a large set (more than a million) of scanned illustrations from books in the British Library's collection that span the eighteenth to the twentieth century, and to develop methods that will enable the collection of illustrations to become fully searchable online.

You can now access The Illustration Archive and access (search, tag and browse) the collection.
