Summary and Future Work
-
High quality parallel software libraries are needed to make parallel
computers easier to use. They encapsulate expertise and hide details
of parallelism.
-
Software libraries are a central component of higher-level software
systems, such as problem-solving environments.
-
Much work so far has focused on dense linear algebra, and also on sparse
and iterative methods.
-
Out-of-core dense solvers are under development. Need to standardise
parallel I/O.
-
Procedural interface is familiar to scientists. Difficult to
get them to use object-oriented alternatives.
