Procedural Vs. OO

• OO languages are attractive but they are still not widely used for scientific computing on parallel computers. Reasons include
  • Learning curve
  • Perception that it results in slower performance
• OO approaches may have more applicability in distributed computing where commercial and financial applications are more important. In these areas software engineering considerations are more important.
