File Extensions

• File extensions are used to convey information concerning the file formats
• When downloading files using FTP, look at the files' extensions. Compare these to the following charts to determine the compression method required
• Compression (and uncompression) software is either public domain (it's free) or shareware (is obtained free but author requests a fee if you decided to continue to use it)
