McLaughlin/Santana - Live in Chicago 1973 (bootleg)

At least this bootleg has a reason for being. Many McLaughlin and Santana fans have longed for a professional recording of one of their live performances together. Columbia records chose not to honor our heroes in this way so we are stuck with this hodge-podge of a mess of broken and mis-named tunes compiled and mastered and placed on disc by complete know-nothings. There are actually two versions of this concert available. One version is a 2-CD set which features about 20 more minutes of music than the 1-CD release which seems to have been culled, wrong titles, wrong names etc., from the 2-CD version. I saw the single CD in a legitimate record store in Los Angeles. How did it get into the store (BlockBuster) ? You got me. I assume somebody pulled a fast one, for you "English is a second language" fans.. a "fast one" means a "trick", to place this title in the racks. What this recording does succeed in doing is making you wish you had either seen this band live on tour, half Mahavishnu / half Santana Band, or indeed a live recording had been released. Love Devotion Surrender was great but, I would have loved to hear these players stretch-out.

          Please see Bootleg disclaimer.
