"Master tabla player Zakir Hussain, guitarist John McLaughlin and percussionist Vikku Vinayakram - three of the original members of Shakti - join together in a special collaboration with
the great Indian flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Indian independence. Zakir Hussain's father was the legendary tabla player Alla Rakha, and Zakir has come to
be seen as one of the world's great percussionists, both for his classical playing and his collaborations with musicians from The Grateful Dead to Van Morrison. Every member of the group has a
history of great partnerships; ghatam (clay pot) player Vikku Vinayakram has worked closely with Indian violinist L. Shankar, John McLaughlin was last seen in London with flamenco guitarist
Paco de Lucia, and Hariprasad Chaurasia is particularly known for his work with saxophonist Jan Garbarek."
