Workshop on Collective Social Awareness and Relevance (CSAR)

RECOGNITION partners recently held a workshop at Social Computing and its Applications (SCA) 2013, in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The workshop, titled “Collective Social Awareness and Relevance”, or CSAR, presented papers from project partners alongside other relevant work from outside the project. The workshop was well attended, and included plenty of discussion around topics relevant to the RECOGNITION project.

AOC 2013

UPDATE – submission deadline extended to March 3rd, 2013

The Recognition project is supporting the 7th IEEE WoWMoM Workshop on Autonomic and Opportunistic Communications (AOC2013)  in connection with WoWMom 2013 in Madrid, Spain.

Topics of interest for AOC 2013 include, but are not limited to:

  • Routing, transport, and reliability issues!
  • Techniques for data dissemination and replication!
  • Applications and middleware support, mobile social networking applications!
  • Mobility models and statistical analysis of mobility traces!
  • Context and social awareness mechanisms and algorithms!
  • Co-existence of opportunistic networks with infrastructure mobile wireless networks!
  • Service composition in autonomic and opportunistic networks!
  • Cognition-driven information processing and decision making!
  • Performance modelling, scaling laws, and fundamental limits for autonomic and opportunistic communications!
  • Game-theoretical insights to the operation of autonomic and opportunistic networks!
  • Participatory and urban sensing in autonomic and opportunistic networks!
  • Trust, security, and reputation!
  • Autonomic and opportunistic communication testbeds and prototypes, measurement data from real experiments !
  • Socio-economic models for autonomic and opportunistic communications

Presentation at MOSN 2011

Work relevant to the Recognition project is being presented this week at MOSN 2011 – The First NSS Workshop on Mobile and Online Social Networks, a workshop located with the 5th International Conference on Network and System Security in Milan, Italy.

The paper, “Retweeting: A Study of Message-Forwarding in Twitter” is written by Will Webberley, Stuart Allen and Roget Whitaker of the School of Computer Science & Informatics at Cardiff University.

Recognition work presented at NEMO 2011

Work from the Recognition project is this week being presented at the “Finding Patterns of Human Behaviors in NEtwork and MObility Data” (NEMO) workshop at ECMLPKDD 2011 in Athens, Greece.

The paper, entitled “Checking out checking in: observations on foursquare usage patterns was completed by Martin Chorley, Gualtiero Colombo, Matthew Williams, Stuart Allen and Roger Whitaker of the School of Computer Science & Informatics at Cardiff University.
