Ian Kelley's Homepage
welcome to my website!

Background

Welcome to my website! I'm Ian Kelley, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Ph.D. candidate at Cardiff University. I have been working in computing since I graduated from the University of Washington in 1999. During this time, I have held positions at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Germany), Louisiana State University (USA), and most recently, Cardiff University (UK).

My main areas of expertise lie in Grid/high-performance computing, Web portal development, data management, volunteer computing, and peer-to-peer networking. I focus much of my research on building new tools and technological innovations that can help to bridge the gap between end-users and IT advancements.

Current Research

I am working on the EU Framework 7 EDGI project (http://edgi-project.eu) on the data management issues involved in transitioning jobs from Service Grids (e.g., Supercomputers) to Desktop Grids (e.g., your home PC).

The Future...

I am on the lookout for an Assistant Professor position that has a healthy balance of both teaching and research opportunities. If you know of any openings, please take a look at my CV, Research Statement and Teaching Statement to see if I am a good match.
